<blurb>And yet again, God plays connect-the-dots with me; it never gets any less entertaining, I love it.

My pastor spoke about taking shelter in God's glory this past Sunday, and so in my notes I had jotted down "Psalm 91/He who dwells in the shelter/glory of the Most High..." and started doodling around with some possible ideas (sorry Joe, I promise I was paying good attention up until that point). I fixated on the notion of "glory", but since nothing was materializing I left it alone and figured to revisit it later on. A couple of days later, I still had no real concrete idea, so I decided to watch the movie "Namesake" in hopes of some other inspiration regarding fatherhood and sonship- again, nothing much was happening in my sketchbook, although I did begin thinking about the ideas of "coming home from a distant country". After a good 10 minutes of panic I decided to default into old unused designs I had laying around, and in doing so I ran into an old bird sketch that's always made me happy, so I decided to re-draw it with its bags packed and totally ready to get going on its journey. Slowly scriptures started coming together for me that tied in this bird, homecoming, and God's glory, and here is the final mash-up of selected verses in both Psalms 55 and 91:

"When terror overwhelms me I long to have wings to fly away to my place of refuge, but then I remember that my rest is in the shadow of the Almighty, in the shade of His glory, for He is my fortress, ransoming me forever unharmed."

Oh, but the dots have one final connection to make: As I'm beginning to think of a name for this piece, I began thinking along the lines of old war movies like Memphis Belle and Top Gun, and once I blurted out loud "Maverick '55 '91!" I couldn't stop laughing to myself; and literally within 2-3 minutes of that blurb, my phone goes off because one of the people I follow on Twitter had updated (you know who you are!) this particular gem that just made me laugh even harder:

"Kenny Loggins 'Danger Zone'"

If you don't quite find this funny, I suggest you ask someone to connect the dots for you, but if you find this endearingly funny like I did, then join me in gratitude that our God has an amazing sense of humor. In His glory, we are indeed always heartily satisfied.</blurb>
